Vince Vaughn Talks About The Break-Up

Wednesday May 31, 2006
Vince Vaughn follows up his hugely successful romantic comedy Wedding Crashers with what's best described as an anti-romantic comedy. The Break-Up takes the classic romantic comedy set-up and twists it on its head.

The title pretty much sums up the film's plot. The Break-Up zooms through the 'boy meets girl' part to focus more on the stress, strain and general uncomfortableness associated with the end of a relationship. Vaughn says the movie wasn't inspired by any particular nasty break-up of his. "But there's elements of relationships that I had," explained Vaughn. "I thought that there was stuff that was very universal about not remembering to bring home 12 lemons and having the argument be about the lemons, but really the argument being about so much more than the lemons, but that just sort of being the vehicle to discuss stuff." • The Status of the Iron Man Movie
In April 2006, Marvel Studios announced the status of a slate of comic book-inspired films, including the much-anticipated Iron Man. Way back in November 2004, New Line and Marvel had signed Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook) to helm the Iron Man movie, with the studios eyeing a summer 2006 release. That project never went forward, which is a good thing for Jon Favreau. The director of Elf and Zathura has been tapped by Marvel Studios to direct Iron Man which has been bumped back to a 2008 release date.

Doing press for his supporting role in the anti-romantic comedy The Break-Up starring his buddy Vince Vaughn, Favreau answered a couple of Iron Man questions, although the big one - who will play Iron Man - wasn't among them.
