Sir Ian McKellen Provides the Scoop on X-Men: The Last Stand
Monday May 22, 2006
The third film of the X-Men franchise, X-Men: The Last Stand, finds the mutants presented with the opportunity to change their status from outcasts to ordinary human beings. A cure's been developed and mutants must decide whether they want to give up their unique qualities or retain the powers which set them apart and isolate them from 'normal' citizens. All of the main cast of the first two X-Men films return for what's supposedly the last of the X-Men movies, including Sir Ian McKellen in the role of Magneto. I don't know if it's in the notes, but the first time that Patrick Stewart appears in this film, we appear to be 25 years younger than we are. That's been done by a technology that's never been used before which involved no makeup, no special FX whatsoever. We just go into the studio and do the scene as is, and then they morph our faces onto photographs of ourselves 25 years ago. And lo and behold there we are." Read On...
