Movie Review: The Wild
Thursday April 13, 2006
Movie studios are notorious for pushing uninspired remakes, movies which borrow heavily from successful films, and sequels made for the sole purpose of turning a quick profit onto unsuspecting audiences. But with The Wild, the filmmakers have just pushed things too far. There’s nothing original here. Hardly a single character, scene or storyline in this unappealing and surprisingly lifeless animated movie is something we haven't seen done before - and done better. The Wild is more of the same old thing, wrapped in a just barely whisper-thin disguise. (Photo © Walt Disney Pictures)More on The Wild

Stepping Out in Kinky Boots
Chiwetel Ejiofor stars as a feisty drag queen named Lola in Kinky Boots, directed by Julian Jarrold and inspired by the true story of Northampton shoemaker Steve Pateman. The real Pateman inherited a failing shoe factory from his father and in an effort to keep the company afloat, he began manufacturing kinky boots for transvestites.
