Interview with Spider-Man 3 Villain Thomas Haden Church
Friday April 7, 2006
Thomas Haden Church earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his role as Paul Giamatti's womanizing best friend in the critically acclaimed indie film, Sideways. Church is following up that attention-getting role with parts in bigger budgeted movies, including two animated family films and a major role as one of the main villains in Spider-Man 3. (Photo © Columbia Pictures)Church plays one of Spider-Man's enemies ('Flint Marko/Sandman') in the third installment of the Spider-Man film franchise, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Although the press rounds for Spider-Man 3 are a long way off, while on a press tour in support of the DreamWorks' animated comedy, Over the Hedge, Church answered a couple of my Spider-Man 3 questions and lavished praise on director Raimi.

David Spade and Rob Schneider Are The Benchwarmers
Who did Rob Schneider model his character after in The Benchwarmers? Schneider says he's playing his buddy - and the man he frequently collaborates with on movies - Adam Sandler. (Pictured: Jon Heder, Rob Schneider and David Spade © Columbia Pictures)The Benchwarmers is based on an idea of Sandler's who also served as an executive producer on the film. Sandler spent time on the set when he wasn't busy shooting his own film, Click, and gave Schneider good advise on how to play this particular character. "Adam just wanted me to play myself," explained Schneider. "He said, 'Come on, no one has ever seen that.' He would actually come on the set and say, 'No, no, no, no. Come on, no, no, no, no. Just be yourself,' because I have tendency to be want to be goofy. You know, I realized kind of early on that I am playing [Adam]. He never said that but I sort of realized, 'Okay, I get it.'"
