The Benchwarmers Premiere Coverage
Wednesday April 5, 2006
The LA premiere of the comedy movie The Benchwarmers kicked off minus the usual red carpet. In keeping with the film's baseball theme, the stars of the film and celebrity guests spoke to the media on the press line set up next to a softball field. The smell of the grass, the crack of the bat, hot dogs, Cracker Jacks...this premiere had it all. (Photo: Jon Heder © Richard Chavez)As for the stars, Rob Schneider came ready to play. The man was carrying around two bats and spent most of his time doing interviews talking up the finer aspects of hitting. Jon Heder's coming off a foot injury and didn't think he'd be ready to run, but did take the field at first base. David Spade spent his time warming up and goofing off with The Benchwarmers' producer Adam Sandler who handled left field in between high-fiving young fans. And Jon Lovitz hit the day's first home run, something he predicted he'd do before the game even started.
