ATL Premiere Coverage

Friday March 31, 2006
Producer Will Smith joined the cast of ATL for the film's Hollywood Premiere, held on March 30th at the historic Graumann's Chinese Theater. Smith spent most of his time on the red carpet posing for photos with ATL cast members before joining first-time actor rapper Tip T.I. Harris for a couple of interviews (including one with yours truly). (Pictured: Evan Ross © Warner Bros)

Since there wasn't much time to type up transcripts from the interviews (the premiere was held on the night before ATL opens in theaters), you'll have to trust me when I say the cast of ATL couldn't stop talking about how close they became while working on the film and how much they love their ATL director, Chris Robinson. Check out videos from the premiere for more on what the cast had to say about this Atlanta-based film:

  • New on DVD: Bee Season
Do you find it as strange as I do that spelling bees have suddenly become hot fodder for films? On the surface there doesn't appear to be much entertainment value in watching kids prep and participate in spelling bees, yet for some odd reason spelling bee films are strangely compelling. That holds true with Fox Searchlight's Bee Season, a decidedly unique twist on the standard spelling bee story which hits stores on April 4th. Read On...

Based on a short film by writer/director Randall Miller and his wife Jody Savin, Marilyn Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing and Charm School stars Robert Carlyle as Frank Keane, a widower who's having a difficult time dealing with his wife's death. When Frank witnesses a horrible car accident, he does what any good Samaritan would do and tries to help the injured man inside the car.
