Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman Talk About "Underworld Evolution"

Monday January 16, 2006
"Underworld Evolution" – The Story: Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman, the stars of the 2003 horror hit, "Underworld," climb back into the world of vampires and werewolves for the film's sequel, "Underworld: Evolution." This time around the origin of the feud between the Death Dealers and the Lycans is revealed as Selene (Beckinsale) and Michael (Speedman) search for the truth about their bloodlines. One of the biggest differences for actress Kate Beckinsale between working on the original "Underworld" and the sequel had to do with a big change in her personal life. Beckinsale and director Len Wiseman met and fell in love while working on "Underworld" and after the film wrapped production, the two were married. Among other things, that meant her "Underworld Evolution" director was a little more protective of his leading lady than he was the first time around.

  • Box Office Report - Jan 13-16, 2006
Eli Roth's "Hostel" had a very short stay at the top of the charts. One week after its release, "Hostel" lost the box office crown to the Disney basketball movie "Glory Road." "Glory Road" and the Weinstein Company's animated film, "Hoodwinked," jockeyed back and forth for first place, with both companies claiming victory up until the finally tally was announced. When the dust settled, it was a mere $50,000 that separated the two movies. (Pictured: Josh Lucas and Derek Luke © Walt Disney Pictures)

While the Weinsteins and Disney had cause to celebrate, 20th Century Fox couldn't have been pleased with the ticket sales for its new release, the historic epic "Tristan & Isolde." Launched into theaters last Friday, "Tristan & Isolde" failed to find any sort of audience.
