"Jarhead" Movie Review
Monday November 7, 2005
If you're wondering whether "Jarhead" is a message movie, you'll find your answer in a line from the film. When the Marines in his sniper unit begin discussing the reason behind America's involvement in Desert Storm, Troy (Peter Sarsgaard) says, "To hell with politics. We're here now." That sentiment sums up what "Jarhead" the movie is all about. (Pictured: Jake Gyllenhaal © Universal Pictures)Directed by Sam Mendes, "Jarhead" features Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, and Jamie Foxx as Marines serving in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. "Jarhead" is based on the memoirs of Anthony Swofford and is rated R for pervasive language, some violent images and strong sexual content.

I'm like, 'No, I wasn't in the Army.' It really makes me upset and before I would have been like, 'Yeah, whatever. Yeah,' and now it really gets to me. I’m automatically like, 'I play a Marine and there’s a difference.'" Read More...
