Jamie Foxx Takes Charge in "Jarhead"
Wednesday November 2, 2005
Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx plays a tough as nails Staff Sergeant in "Jarhead," the movie version of ex-Marine Anthony Swofford's book about his experiences in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. (Pictured: Jamie Foxx and Jake Gyllenhaal © Universal Pictures)According to Swofford, Foxx's character is actually an amalgamation of three different sergeants Swofford served under during his military career. Swofford told me he believes screenwriter William Broyles Jr made the right choice in combining the different characters. "I think they made a really rich character out of these three different guys," said Swofford who readily admits he couldn't be happier with the casting choices or the way his book was adapted for the screen. As for Foxx, he didn't mind taking a supporting role in "Jarhead" because it afforded him the opportunity to work with Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes ("American Beauty"). Read More...

Peter Sarsgaard Interview - "Jarhead"
Peter Sarsgaard and Jake Gyllenhaal were already close prior to working on "Jarhead." In fact, Sarsgaard is dating Jake's sister Maggie ("Secretary"). (Pictured: Peter Sarsgaard © Universal Pictures) Asked how they kept from killing each other during filming, Sarsgaard said, "You know, it's the greatest thing that ever happened to us, I've got to say. "JARHEAD" WORLD PREMIERE COVERAGE:
Box Office Report - Oct 28-30, 2005
The Halloween weekend belonged to Lions Gate Films' "Saw 2," a creepy, gory, graphic horror film which killed its competition at the box office. "Saw 2" set records for Lions Gate and I'm sure set the studio execs rushing about to get "Saw 3" into production. Meanwhile "The Legend of Zorro," the sequel to the 1998 romantic comedy, "The Mask of Zorro," did just about what it was expected to do, opening with $16 million which probably isn't enough to inspire the studio to greenlight a "Zorro 3."Top 10 Films for the Weekend Ending 10/30/05:
