Jason Statham and "Transporter 2" proved to be too much competition for "The 40 Year Old Virgin." "Virgin" finally relinquished its hold on the top spot at the box office to "Transporter 2," which broke the record for the best Labor Day weekend opening to date. The record was held by "Jeepers Creepers 2" with $18.4 million - which shows just how little business is done at theaters over this particular holiday weekend. The weekend's other new releases had absolutely no impact on the box office as "Underclassman" underperformed and "A Sound of Thunder" was met with the sound of silence from box office cash registers.
