Behind the Scenes of "Underworld: Evolution"

Wednesday July 27, 2005
The first time Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman ventured down to San Diego for the Comic Con, neither star had a clue what to expect. This time around they were both prepared. On hand to discuss their work in "Underworld: Evolution," the two joked about their action figures and talked about how the film's tone changes - even the look of the werewolves is a little different in this follow-up to the 2003 horror hit. Prior to taking the stage in front of 6,000+ comic book fans, Beckinsale and Speedman sat down in a quieter environment to share a little insight into what "Underworld" fans can expect from "Underworld: Evolution:"

"The Fountain" - Rachel Weisz and Darren Aronofsky Interview
Darren Aronofsky said that premiering footage from his upcoming sci-fi/drama/romance at Comic Con made perfect sense. It was Aronofsky's first time attending the huge event and even though he seemed a bit overwhelmed by the passion of the attendees, he was obviously happy about the way the crowd embraced his film. "The Fountain" star Rachel Weisz observed, "I love enthusiasm, I love passion. I think that’s what’s cool." It's fairly safe to say that from gauging the reaction of the audience, "The Fountain" has been added to a lot of must-see lists. (Photo ©Richard Chavez)

Behind the Scenes of "Superman Returns"
Director Bryan Singer knows how to get a crowd psyched up. Addressing comic book fans at the San Diego Comic Con, Singer had all the right answers when it came to his new project, "Superman Returns," starring Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey, and Kate Bosworth. Even though this year's Comic Con featured appearances by the likes of Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, The Rock, and Kate Beckinsale - to name just a few - it was Singer and "Superman Returns" that was the talk of the weekend (Photo ©Richard Chavez).

Premiering a special montage of never before seen clips from the film, director Singer wowed the crowd and received a standing ovation for his efforts. Those in the know claim the standing o was a Comic Con first. No one can recall clips from any other big-budget studio film evoking that sort of response from a Comic Con audience. Singer was so overwhelmed by the response that he showed the montage one more time after everyone took their seats. Following a Q&A session with the audience, Singer sat down in front of the media to answer more questions on "Superman Returns." Check out what the director had to say about Brandon Routh, casting Kate Bosworth, and why this film is focused on the return of Superman:

  • Charlize Theron Talks "Aeon Flux"
Charlize Theron made her first appearance at the San Diego Comic Con on Saturday, July 18th. With her hair back to blonde and dressed all in black, the gorgeous Theron joined fellow "Aeon Flux" cast member Marton Csokas, director Karyn Kusama, "Aeon Flux" creator Peter Chung, and producers David Gale and Gale Anne Hurd to talk about the sci-fi/action drama in front of an enthusiastic audience of 6,000 comic book fans. After tackling tough questions from the knowledgeable audience, Theron made the media rounds to talk about tackling a project so far from her usual fare. Richard Kelly on "Domino" and "Southland Tales"
Richard Kelly wasn't the first screenwriter to give "Domino" a shot, but he was the last - and that's all that counts. Tony Scott hired the writer/director of "Donnie Darko" to take on the project after hearing Kelly's unique approach to the Domino Harvey story. Kelly confirms "Domino" is definitely dark, going as far as to say it's "a very subversive film." He also said he isn't sure how the real Domino Harvey's death will affect the film, but he confirmed he hasn't been called in for any re-writes.
