Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are hoping to heat up the summer box office by starring as husband and wife assassins in the action drama/comedy, "Mr and Mrs Smith." In the movie, the couple hide their professions from each other and after 5 or 6 years of leading double lives, their marriage is on the rocks. Things hit crisis level when both assassins are, unbeknownest to each other, assigned to the same job. Vince Vaughn co-stars and provides comic relief as Brad Pitt's work associate and best friend.
A young boy dreams up imaginary superhero friends who he goes on adventures with in Robert Rodriguez' 3-D flick, "The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl." Newcomers Taylor Lautner and Taylor Dooley star in the title roles, with Kristen Davis, David Arquette, Cayden Boyd, and George Lopez also along for Rodriguez' latest CGI effects-heavy family film.
The classic TV series "The Honeymooners" gets the big screen treatment with Cedric the Entertainer in the role Jackie Gleason made famous and Mike Epps filling in for Art Carney. This revamped version of the story finds bus driver Ralph Kramden and sewer worker Ed Norton cooking up a get rich quick scheme so they can get out of Brooklyn. Box Office Report - June 3-5, 2005
It was bound to happen. "Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith" has been toppled from the top of the box office charts. But it wasn't either of last week's new releases that managed to unsettle the champ. It was the story of four animal buddies who take a walk on the wild side that did the job. "Madagascar" came in first place during its second week of release, followed closely by one of the funniest Adam Sandler films in the last couple of years - "The Longest Yard." And while "Cinderella Man" did manage to pull off a 4th place finish in its first week of release, its $18 million was below expectations. Universal's hoping positive word of mouth will allow the Russell Crowe movie to have some staying power in theaters.Top 10 Films for the Weekend Ending 06/05/05:
