  • The Best of 2004
Feeling a bit like Santa Claus, I made my 'Best Of' lists and checked them twice, three times - even four. But unlike Mr. Claus, I'm not keeping track of who's been naughty, only who's been very, very nice. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the 'Worst Of' lists. They always seem too mean-spirited, although I will admit they're very much fun to write. Sticking strictly to performances and films that deserve to be praised, here's my first batch of Top Picks for 2004. Please keep in mind these choices reflect my own personal taste in film. Your lists will probably be vastly different than mine:
  • "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" Tops Best Movies of 2004 List

  • Top 10 Best Performances by Actors in 2004

  • The Best Performances by Actresses in 2004 Include Imelda Staunton and Kate Winslet

  • Behind the Scenes of "The Sea Inside"
Writer/director Alejandro Amenabar and actor Javier Bardem are piling up an impressive number of nominations and wins for their work on "The Sea Inside," an emotionally moving film based on the life of Ramon Sampedro. Sampedro was a quadriplegic who fought for the right to die with dignity, and his story as told in "The Sea Inside" is winning critical acclaim as one of the best foreign films of 2004.
