Clive Owen Discusses "Closer"

Sunday December 5, 2004
While Clive Owen may be the least known of the cast, he pretty much steals "Closer" from his co-stars - Jude Law, Julia Roberts, and Natalie Portman. And according to the buzz, chances are fairly good his name will be mentioned come awards time. Here's what Owen had to say about the possibility of awards being bestowed on "Closer," why he plays a different role in the movie than he did in the stage version, those pesky James Bond rumors, and his work in "Sin City:"

  • Natalie Portman Talks About "Closer"
A more mature - and sexier - Natalie Portman takes on the role of a stripper lost and looking for love in "Closer," directed by Mike Nichols. Based on the play by Patrick Marber, "Closer" follows four adults as they become entangled in sordid affairs. Portman's character is perhaps the most honest of the bunch, but none of the characters are without flaws. It's a different sort of role for Natalie and one that really allows her to mature as an actress.
